Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between chef shoes and regular trainers?

Chef footwear is built for long shifts: structured arch support, slip-resistant outsoles for wet/oily floors, easy-clean uppers and (optionally) protective toe caps. Domestic trainers usually lack certified grip and support for all-day standing.

Do I need a safety toe?

If you handle heavy items, trolleys or knives, choose EN ISO 20345 safety footwear (protective toe). If you don’t need toe protection, EN ISO 20347 occupational footwear gives all-day support and slip resistance without the cap.

Which styles are best for long shifts?

Clogs (e.g., Birkenstock) for cushioned, contoured support and quick on/off. Lace-ups for a locked-in fit and ankle stability. Slip-ons for easy cleaning and speed. Safety boots when you need toe/midsole protection.

Will these help with foot pain or plantar fasciitis?

Supportive midsoles and contoured footbeds can reduce fatigue. Look for cushioned heel zones, firm arch support and a slight heel-to-toe drop. Many styles accept custom orthotics for targeted relief.

Can I use my own insoles/orthotics?

Most styles have removable footbeds—check each product page. If you add thick orthotics, consider sizing up ½ size for volume.
