Here are some care instructions to help you maintain your PTFE non-stick cookware:
1. Avoid High Heat: PTFE coatings can degrade at very high temperatures. It’s best to use low to medium heat settings to preserve the non-stick surface
2. Use Gentle Utensils: Avoid using metal utensils, which can scratch the non-stick coating. Opt for wooden, silicone, or plastic utensils instead
3. Hand Wash Only: While some non-stick cookware is labelled as dishwasher safe, hand washing with a soft sponge and mild detergent is recommended to extend the life of the coating
4. Avoid Abrasive Cleaners: Do not use steel wool, scouring pads, or abrasive cleaners. These can damage the non-stick surface.
5. Let It Cool Down: Allow the cookware to cool down before washing it. Sudden temperature changes can warp the pan and damage the coating
6. Store Properly: When storing, place a soft cloth or paper towel between pans to prevent scratches
7. Apply some oil before first time use: It is advisable to rub a thin coating of vegetable oil over the cooking surface before the first time use, which will condition and protect the cooking surface.
8. Avoid preheating an empty pan: Start on a low setting with some cooking oil. This helps in evenly distributing heat and reduces the chances of food sticking and scratching the surface
9. Use natural oils rather than nonstick cooking spray: Nonstick spray contains lecithin, which will leaves a residue on the non-stick surface
